Here’s some criteria you might find helpful as you develop your parable:

  • How well does the project engage the audience and draw them into the story?
  • How faithful is the project to the Biblical text and the core message of the parable?
  • Does the project communicate spiritual and/or cultural ideas in ways that a modern audience would understand?
  • How well does the project communicate the nature of God’s kingdom as portrayed in the parable?
  • How does the medium shape the message; does the style of presentation obscure or clarify what is being communicated?
  • How well does the project production demonstrate an understanding of the power of story, media and technology in shaping an audience’s thinking?
  • How well would the message be understood by an audience with no church experience or religious knowledge?
Remember, although that all pieces must be submitted as video, you are free to choose from a range of video styles, such as animation, live action, music video clips or slideshows. We want to see your creativity at work!

Technical requirements for submissions:

  • Duration: no longer than 5 minutes
  • Aspect Ratio: 16:9 Widescreen
  • Frame Rate: 25 frames per second (PAL TV Standard)
  • Any text/important details/graphics need to be within the broadcast safe margins (ie. A 10% margin from all sides of the screen) to avoid clipped titles that go off the edges of the screen.
  • To submit your video, create a YouTube account, upload your video to YouTube, and submit the YouTube URL using the form below.

You’ll also need to need to keep a Broadcast quality version of your film – which might be used for inclusion on a DVD.

Such video would require the following guidelines:

  • If videos are submitted on tape they need to be in HDV or DV/miniDV format not DVCAM & have 20 seconds of black at the start to allow for roll time
  • Wherever possible videos should be submitted digitally as a highest possible quality Quicktime .mov file or a DV PAL .avi file (as digital data files on a data DVD)
